Lucy Dacus Unveils Passionate New Single "Ankles" Ahead of Forthcoming Album

Lucy Dacus has returned with "Ankles," the lead single from her upcoming album, Forever Is a Feeling, set to release on March 28, 2025. This marks her first solo project since 2021's Home Video and follows her collaboration with boygenius alongside Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker.

"Ankles" delves into the complexities of desire and intimacy. Dacus begins by contemplating restraint, singing, "What if we don’t touch? What if we only talk about what we want and cannot have?" As the track progresses, she surrenders to passion, inviting her partner to "Pull me by the ankles to the edge of the bed, and take me like you do in your dreams." The song masterfully balances raw sensuality with tender domesticity, envisioning mornings spent solving crosswords and sharing tea.

The accompanying music video, directed by Jane Schoenbrun, features Dacus in a striking red Rodarte gown, wandering the streets of Paris. Actress Havana Rose Liu portrays a museum guard attempting to contain Dacus's spirited escapades, adding a whimsical touch to the visual narrative.

Critics have lauded "Ankles" for its lyrical depth and dynamic arrangement. The Musical Hype praised Dacus as "one of the best songwriters of the 21st century," highlighting the song's "ear-catching, driving, rhythmic strings" and "elite songwriting."

In support of Forever Is a Feeling, Dacus will embark on a North American tour starting April 16 in Philadelphia, with stops in major cities including New York, Toronto, Nashville, and Los Angeles. Fans can anticipate a blend of introspective ballads and energetic anthems that showcase her evolution as an artist.

With "Ankles," Lucy Dacus offers a compelling exploration of love's multifaceted nature, setting the stage for an album that promises to resonate deeply with listeners.
